International Lynx Day - Let's celebrate the Northern Lynx on June 11! Since its return to our territory following reintroductions in Switzerland and the Vosges mountains in the 70s, the boreal lynx (Lynx lynx) populates the forest ranges of Jura, Vosges and the Alps, but it remains in an unfavorable state of conservation. Collisions with vehicles (cars, trains), destruction illegal animals showing a low acceptance of the species by a minority of actors in the hunting and breeding worlds, and the lack of connectivity between its population centers are the main threats that the lynx must face. To get to know the discreet feline better, the French Society for the Study and Protection of Mammals, with the financial support of WWF France, invites you to participate in the events of the second International Lynx Day in France. Several other European countries (Slovenia, Italy, Czechia, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Ukraine) also organize events on this occasion. The objective of this day is to raise awareness among the general public about the presence of the Northern Lynx in France, its habits and the challenges of its conservation. We also want to disseminate knowledge about the role it plays in ecosystems and the positive aspects of its presence in socio-economic and ecological terms. This knowledge will thus contribute to its social acceptance. For International Lynx Day I made a canvas in the forest and filmed by Loris Poussin. The canvas was sold and 10% of the amount of the canvas was donated to the SFEPM. The web is in Malisson, a Michelin-starred restaurant Le Bon Accueil with chef Marc Faivre. The movie can be found in the movie section.
